Fishing
From Anchorage you will fly to one of Alaska’s small villages where we take a Bush Plane to a remote river. From there, we inflate the rafts, pack up our gear to begin our adventure fishing our way down the river and taking in the sights and solitude. Some rivers are a never ending supply of great gravel bars for camping spots while others are harder to come by so we have them mapped out. While selecting our camping spots we try to find a spot that has good fishing, good campfire wood, and good scenery. Once finding our camping spot for the night we set up the tents, cots, chairs and get out some snacks, fish the local runs or kick the waders off and get a campfire going.
Don’t see a tour you like? No Problem. Reach out and lets talk about what you would like to do and we will do our best to work with you and create a unique trip that meets your needs.
Aniak River
The Aniak River is a very remote river and only has a handful of people that float it per year. It has a variety of fish species including Sheefish and Northern Pike along with all 5 speecies of Salmon, Rainbow trout, Dolly Varden, and Grayling. This is about the perfect camping river with endless gravel bars with plenty of good fire wood. There are lots of log jams and sweepers that keep you on your toes in the upper sections here.
This is one of my favorites due to its remote location, fishing variety and great mousing for Rainbows. Trout on this river can be caught in the Mid 20 inch range but average the upper teens.

American Creek
The American is another favorite for many reasons. It has a great diversity of Bug life for a more traditional fly fishing opportunity before the Salmon show up and start dropping eggs. Its one of the best rivers in the the world for Mousing big rainbows (25-30” Fish!) Its a shorter float at about 40 miles and is one of the most scenic. It has a series of class 3 rapids that are just enough to make it a little exciting. It gets a little more traffic due to its proximity to King Salmon and Iliamna but is still very remote and too long for lodges to do day trips on it-this makes some sections of this river some of the best big Rainbow fishing in the world. There are good numbers of Char in this river too but this is one for someone who wants very scenic and big aggressive Rainbow trout.

King Salmon River-Nushagak Drainage
This river is a good one for variety and a leisurely float. Starting from Dillingham with a quick float plane ride to a tributary lake it is about 60 miles and gives you lots of options for the length of your trip and the opportunity to camp in the same spot for 2 nights. This one starts off in a high tundra lake and takes you down to the main branch of the Nushagak River where you’ll be surrounded by Mature Spruce and Cottonwood trees. The fishing is tremendous for Rainbows, Dolly Varden and Grayling throughout the whole river. I’ve never seen so many Grayling in my life! Rainbow Trout in this river average in the upper teens and get as big as the low to mid 20’s. Dolly Varden are the same and Grayling get up to 16-18 inches averaging around 12-14. The King Salmon has abundant good gravel bars for camping and lots of good dead firewood to scavenge for fires. Bears can be seen but not very common. Moose can also be seen and we have found a fresh moose shed antler on this river.

King Salmon River-Egegik Drainage
Not for the faint of heart-this river is on the Alaska Peninsula and can see some heavy rain and winds. That being said, it is very rewarding and a fun and unique float trip. We start of on Contact creek and float a 5 miles down till we hit the King Salmon River. Contact creek is full of good Rainbows, Dolly Varden, Grayling and hosts all 5 species of Pacific Salmon. This river is loaded with bears for great bear viewing. Once we hit the King Salmon River we float down to the mouth of Gertrude Creek where we hike its banks chasing more Rainbows, Dolly’s and Grayling. There can be good mousing on this river and Later in the year the Silver Salmon fishing can be phenomenal as well as we are getting fairly close to the ocean. After hiking Gertrude Creek for a while we float to another creek (doesn’t have a name) and fish it for a day or two. It has some great Rainbow fishing and also Silvers later in the year. From there we float out to our take out location. Located in Katmai National Park and then Bacharof National Wildlife refuge-make sure to contact us early if you want to do this one because we need the proper permits.

Koktuli River
The Koktuli River is a more economical float trip because it is such a short flight from Iliamna but does not lack in adventure. This is a tributary to the Nushagak River so it hosts a large run of King Salmon that Dollies and Rainbows gorge on. It gets all 5 species of Pacific Salmon and Rainbows, Dolly’s and Grayling although this is primarily a Dolly fishery. It has countless good gravel bars and camp sites with abundant fire wood. Wildlife is also abundant with many Moose, Bears and Caribou in the area.

Moraine Creek
The Moraine is a very popular float for Day Trips as well as overnight float trips, but for a good reason. It has some monster Rainbow trout (in the 25-30” range), host a huge run of sockeye, and is crawling with bears. At around 20 miles this float is a max of 7 days 6 nights and involves a little hiking. This trip you can count on seeing up to 30 bears a day and potential to catch a 30” Rainbow trout.
